There's a been a number of changes in my life over the past couple weeks. I'm still not working my "regular" job but have been picking up side jobs to keep things going.
And we finally got an answer to the question "what is wrong with Robin's knee?". The MRI showed some "possible" tearing but nothing that the orthopedic doctor would need to repair. I asked him if he was sure and he said, "of course, I love cutting people open and fixing them. There really isn't a need to do that with you, though". He's a great guy. Told me I strained some ligaments and to slowly ease back into my running and biking. He tells me "easing back in doesn't mean 5 miles on the bike tomorrow, 10 miles 2 days later and 30 2 days after that!" LOL!!! So, I went out for a walk/run last Saturday and loved it! Then biked for 10 minutes at the gym earlier this week. It was wonderful! So happy to get back on track with my training.
The best news, however, is I connected up with a woman named Wendy Mader. She was the overall female age group finisher in Kona in 2008. Plus, she's a TBB coach! I had approached her to "team" up as my success partner as part of growing my TBB business. However, she already had someone. Then I approached her about helping me train for the Savageman 30 triathlon in 2012. It is an Olympic triathlon in Southern Maryland. And since I currently can barely tread water, it's going to "stretch" me to meet this challenge! But it's one of the steps on my way to that dream. And from the few conversations I've had with Wendy I think she'll be able to help me find that "stretch" I'm going to need to complete that race.
I, actually, found Wendy by doing a Google search on "Triathletes and Beachbody". She came up on the top of the hits. She credits her Insanity workouts with her 5K PR of 18:35! This was a woman I wanted to have help me train! I'm very excited about the chance to work with her. Even though she and I are 2000 miles apart, between cell phones, Facebook and emails no one is really that far apart. I believe I will learn a great deal from her.
I'm also in the process of putting together an endurance type club for young girls. The area I live in is not really a "bastion of athleticism", to quote a friend. However, we have a "rail trail" and a wonderful local bike shop, Whistle Stop Bike Shop. It's owned by a local couple and they are just fantastic people. I'm working on finding funding and hope to have "something" set up by next spring.
Well, tomorrow I'm going to try Chalean Extreme's Burn Intervals. I haven't tried them since I was set back with the whole knee thing, but I think it's time to try again. I still want to drop some more weight and I'm still in the TBB $100,000 Challenge. I'll report back after I complete it. And lately there is one word that keeps appearing in my life and I found this quote which kind of sums up how I feel.
