Over the past week, I've been dealing with some family issues and between that and my knee, my workouts have been a little "off". During this time, I worked on figuring out what I'm going to do in regards to my workouts. I'm still in the Team Beachbody Challenge, despite my knee. I consider it a temporary setback. The Challenge goes from August 1st, 2011 through March 31st, 2012. I've just had to modify my plans. After all, I'm still drinking shakeology, still losing weight and there is no reason I can't do Chalean Extreme's Ab work and do the workout using my upper body.
It's been 30 days since I started Chalean Extreme. Yesterday, I took my measurements and weighed myself. I have dropped 10 lbs in the last month and lost 2" from my waist. At first I was a little bummed about it but then I took a closer look. I had thought that I hadn't gotten any results from doing the workouts, that the weight loss was purely from Shakeology. But being the "data" person I am, I have an Excel spreadsheet where I track my weight vs time. And in the first month I was drinking Shakeology, I lost 6 lbs. The second month I was not watching my food, at all, it was right before the race and then after the race? Well, lets just say I made up for the calories I burned up! However, even with that I managed to lose 5 lbs. Then I added Chalean Extreme into the mix, which has been the last 30 days. And even with my having to "restart" the workouts a few times, in the last month, I dropped 10 lbs. I was pretty strict about sticking to her meal plan, except for the last week. I made some poor choices this past week. So, I decided, this morning, I'm going to do the 3 day Shakeology cleanse.
In most nutritional cleanses, the lack of "nutritional" ingredients is what causes issues. However, since Shakeology had more nutrients than your average "shake", I feel that that will not be an issue. I asked Kris if she had ever done it and OF COURSE, she has! Said she was a "little" hungry the first day, fine the 2nd and 3rd.
The whole point of a nutritional cleanse is to clear your system out of toxins and impurities. The Shakeology cleanse has you drinking 3 shakes/day, a small salad and protein meal, green tea, LOTS of water and a couple small snacks. It was designed so that you could do it and still do the TBB workouts, which can be pretty calorie burning. By using a drink that has so much nutrition, it's felt that it offsets the decrease in calories.
I'm still going to do Chalean Extreme while I'm doing the cleanse. I'll write over the next few days how it's going along with the modifications I've started to come up with, to accommodate my knee issues.
This week was full of challenges, emotional as well as physical. But as long as I keep moving forward, I know I will get to my goal. Giving up over life's little obstacles isn't something I want to do any longer. I want to know how far I can go on this journey.
