The Journey

another part of the puzzle.....

While this blog, most often, focuses on my physical training there are many other facets of it.  As many know, nutrition, is a huge part.  I've talked about how sugar isn't my friend any longer (Wendy said "it was a good breakup"!).  But what about the other aspects of nutrition?  Recovery? Getting to a healthy weight? Eating the optimal nutrients?  That's where it gets complicated.

I am one that believes that the cures to most diseases nowadays can be found in the vegetation on this planet.  But it's hard to try to figure out, among all the information out there, what to eat.  And many folks who are trying to get to a healthy weight cut out valuable nutrients when they cut calories.  In addition, one of the biggest complaints folks have about dropping weight is feeling hungry.

That's exactly the place I found myself a little over a year ago.  I had been working out, dropping weight and then hit a plateau.  I wasn't sure what to do.  It was around this time, I was learning about Beachbody and heard of Shakeology.  I was intrigued because it had a number of amazing ingredients, Maca root (helps increase energy), Chia seeds(helps stamina and endurance), and Acai Berry (full of anitoxidants), and these were just a small sampling of what went into it.   I spent some time learning about what went in it.  And then decided to try it.

Within a week, I was feeling different.  I had more energy then ever before.  I was more awake.  I often, before I started drinking it, would workout before work, do my job, which was a standing job, and have to take a nap right after work I was so drained.  Now I found myself, being alert and doing more, sometimes I went back to the gym for another spin class!!!   It was awesome!  I broke through that weight plateau I had been at for 5 months.  And I wasn't hungry all the time, like I had been.  By substituting Shakeology for my lunch and then adjusting my other food, I was eating properly, with the correct amount of "fuel" I needed for my workouts and my life.  I was convinced it was for me.

This year, during my training, I started using it as my recovery drink and found it decreased the after workout aches and pains.  I've noticed that I don't seem to have to reach for that bottle of Advil that often.  I am anxious to try the new formula, vegan chocolate.  I'm still finishing my bag of Tropical Strawberry.

I have had great success drinking Shakeology, it has more nutrition in one serving than I could manage to put into one day.   I know others have similar stories of success.  But you don't have to believe me, check it out yourself.  I think you'll like what you read.
